Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois Closing for Good (On Route 66)

I just came across this today, but Lincoln College in Lincoln, Illinois, is closing after 157 years of operation.

From April 1, 2022, Forbes "Lincoln College in Illinois to close after 157 years" by Michael T. Nietzel.

Lincoln College is in Lincoln, Illinois, one of the towns on Route 66 and the home of the excellent Lincoln Heritage Museum.

Lincoln University (as it is now) is a small private college which will officially close May 13, 2022, at the conclusion of the current spring semester.  After that date, all academic programming at Lincoln will cease.

The college, which currently has about 1,000 students, is named after Abraham Lincoln.  In addition to the main campus in Lincoln, also named after you-know-who, there is an extension site in nearby Normal, Illinois.

According to the school, the closing comes about because of the financial impact of the coronavirus which impacted recruitment and fundraising efforts.

Sad to see it go.  But, I understand the museum plans to continue.
