As in LPs.  I did go through many of the Vinyl Frontier's albums.  There is just somehing about flipping through then that brings back memories of the good old record store days.

And, did I just hear that sales of albums have surpassed sales of CDs?

I ended up buying four albums (two of them multiple sets).  And, I sure like the prices for the used ones better than the prices for the new ones.
I bought:

Bobby Goldsboro's 10th Anniversary Album  (two albums)

72 Top Original Hits by the Original Artists  (4 albums)

Doing That Record Store Thing

Okay, no NIU Spring Football game because of weather, but I did get to do other things.  

And, besides that, today is Record Store Day.  As such, I went over to my favorite Mom and Pop record store in McHenry, Illinois.  It is called the Vinyl Frontier which is a great name for a record store in my books.

Even though I don't need to be buying any CDS or LPs, hey, you gotta on this day.

I bought five CDs:

Kinks  (their first one)

Kinks Greatest Hits 1970-1986  (two CDs and a DVD)

Lola Versus  Powerman and Moneygoround--  Kinks

Drinks After Work--  Toby Keith   (including that great "Call a Marine")

Proof:  The Very Best of the Knack

You might say I got Kinkasized.

Record Store Day Today

Well, hopefully this horrible winter April we've been having is at an end.  This is the second coldest April ever recorded in the Chicago area.  Hopefully we will get rid of all the snow by the end of the weekend.  No Global Warming here at all.

But, to get your minds off this rotten weather, today, Saturday April 21, across the United States is Record Store Day.  This is a day to go to your local mom and pop independent record store and flip through those vinyl albums (one of my favorite all-time fun things to do).

If you don't know where your local store is, you can go to the site and find the closest.
