From the March 17, 2016, L.A. Times "La Canad couple chronicle their adventures on Route 66 from aboard a new Corvette" by Sara Cardine.
The couple bought their new Corvette from the GM Corvette assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and picked it up at the National Corvette Museum. They drove Route 66 back home to California. What a way to road test your new Corvette.
It took them two weeks to drive the 2,100 miles. I have to wonder whether they started in Chicago, but probably not.?

Driving Your Car to Places To See Other Cars-- Part 2: Corvettes
Continued From May 16th.
The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is still an attraction even though the striking Skydome is still closed for repairs from the sinkhole until June or July.
And, GM's Bowling Green factory, the exclusive maker of Corvettes, is across the street.
There are still enough displays to see and enthusiasts to talk to to make a trip here worthwhile The new National Corvette Museum's Motorsports Park opened in April.
Add a day and check out the marvels at Mammoth Cave National Park, just 22 miles north of the museum (and sleep in a WigWam at the TeePee Motel in Cave City).

Driving Your Car to Places to See More Cars-- Part 1: Corvettes

Well, a bit late for spring break, but still places you can drive to see neat old cars and automobilia stuff.
CAVES AND CORVETTES--
Destination: National Corvette Museum, Bowling Green Kentucky.
Travel Time, miles: 6+ hours, 406 miles from Chicago
Recommended vehicle type to use for trip: America's sports car (Corvette), preferably convertible.
The sinkhole that swallowed eight vintage Corvettes on Feb. 14, 2014 has been filled and is now an official part of the museum's 21-year-old history. Sadly, only 3 of those 8 were able to be restored and the museum is preparing an exhibit on the sinkhole.

Heading Home from North Carolina, 2010-- Home-- Dec. 2, 2010
Unfortunately, there had been a family emergency and Andrea and the kids weren't there so it was just Andy and me. We ate at that great Hollywood Chinese place and spent a lot of time on the computer looking up songs.
The next day, I definitely had plans to go to the BP station west of I-65 to stock up on that great treat called Chocolate Uglys. However, it was rush hour and traffic to get on the entrance going south to Nashville was really backed up so I had to get on I-65 going north.
From White House to the Kentucky border, not too far, I don't believe I've ever seen more unmarked police cars. One was even a white Dodge Charger. There was even a white unmarked SUV, beware soccer moms.
In Kentucky, I-65 is called the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Expressway. I stopped for gas at Franklin as Andy said it was cheaper there than in White House. It was. In WH, it was $2.75 and $2.70 in Franklin.
In Kentucky, I was going 75 and was passed by a Mini-Cooper like I was sitting still. Guess we don't have to worry about those unmarked cars here.
Coming into Bowling Green, home of the National Corvette Museum (and, of course, where Chevy makes the car). I saw a sign for White Castle...SLIDER ATTACK. Spent $2.99 for a Saver meal: three sliders, fries and drink. Good deal.
Saw a Gulf station. Gas in Bowling Green was $2.85!! (I could live with that today, but not back then.)
