The Most: North Carolina Brackets-- Part 2: Basketball vs. Racing

Continued from April 5th.

OK, we've had the basketball brackets, the Album Madness brackets and the Big Tap!  brackets.  Now we have the Our State Great Eight.  I have already written about other brackets earlier this week.  This will go into more detail on fight of the "Key" brackets about the state.

BASKETBALLIN' vs. RACIN'  (ACC vs. NASCAR)

Hard to say which organization known by its initials wins here:  NASCAR or ACC.  This is the state where Michael Jordan, Dean Smith and Coach K got famous, but North Carolina also claims the Earnhardts and Pettys.  The winner depends upon whether you prefer passing in the free-throw lane or the fast lane.

SWEET TEA vs. SWEET POTATOES

Sweet tea is top seed in our bracket and should have no problem defeating sweet potatoes, which, despite being our state vegetable (I didn't know that, I though hush puppies were, hey! corn!!)  Big problem for sweet potatoes:  they keep getting called yams, causing some confusion.

Carolina Barbecue Sides-- Part 6: Sweet Tea

Not mentioned in the article, but definitely a vital part to the whole enjoyment of your 'cue is washing it down with a pitcher of unbelievably sweet tea.

Well, for me I have to have it sugar free tea as the sugar is very much way TOO SWEET for me.  But finely chopped ice is another plus.  Plus, I'm saving the calories for the 'cue, slaw and hush puppies.  Not many calories in those, you know.

Carolina BBQ to be Spotlighted in Chicago Tribune

While perusing Wednesday's Tribune Food Section yesterday, I came across a very familiar logo. It was that of Scott's Barbeque from my hometown of Goldsboro, NC. Beside it was a blurb that read they were going to have an article about it next Wednesday. I look forward to it.

I love all kinds of 'cue, but especially that great pit-cooked, pulled pork in a vinegar sauce that they serve up in the eastern part of North Carolina. Get an order of that along with cole slaw, hushpuppies, and tea, and you have some mighty fine eating.

I particularly like eating out at Wilber's on the US-70 bypass. The interior is just perfect for your enjoyment of 'cue. Nearby McCall's is great as well. and there you can also get a buffet which sometimes includes that great Calabash shrimp.
