The updated 5th edition of "The EZ 66 Guide for Travelers" by Jerry McClanahan is now available. Anyone driving the Mother Road should take this along. I also suggest Dave Wickline's book "Images of Route 66."
JANUARY 18
The Sidewalk Highway in Oklahoma is undergoing a historic review before rehabilitation begins.
A section of the 9-foot-wide Sidewalk Highway (aka Ribbon Road) near Miami, Oklahoma, is undergoing a required Section 106 review before work on it begins.
The intent is to restore the road's original character.
It was built in 1922 and a part of the original Ozark Trail.
