Top Ten Facts About the Movie "Groundhog Day"-- Part 1: Phil Tom Hanks

From the January 31, 2008, Movie Moron "Top 10 Facts--  Groundhog Day."

1.  The original script had Bill Murray repeating the same day for 10,000 years, keeping track by reading a new page in a book each day.  In the actual movie, it is estimated that he spent around ten years in Punxsutawney.

2.  Tom Hanks was the first choice for the lead role, but Harold Ramis thought he was "too nice" for the part.  Tori Amos was considered for the role played by Andie MacDowell.

3.  The movie's screenwriter got the idea of the repeating days while reading about immortals in "Interview With the Vampire."
