FEBRUARY 28
One of the two landmark arrows at Twin Arrows, Arizona is no more. It fell. It was at the abandoned Twin Arrows Trading Post and probably a victim of the high winds of recent days.
Both arrows were restored in 2009.
The trading post closed in 1998 after starting as the Canyon Padre Trading Post in 1949. It became the Twin Arrows Trading Post in the 1950s when the two 20-foot tall arrows were erected.
The post consisted of a gas station, gift shop and a Valentine's Diner.
The shafts were made from telephone poles.
Let's hope someone puts a new one in its place.
