Along 66, August 2018: Update on the Gasconade Bridge in Missouri
AUGUST 24-- The Gasconade River Bridge Guardians have issued a progress report:
The bridge, now closed, is in Hazelgreen, Missouri, not far east from Lebanon.
** Have raised $7,760 so far. Needed to get a $6,000 Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program grant.
** They have contacted an engineer for a feasibility report.
** Negotiations are ongoing with the Missouri IDOT for a year-to-year lease.
** They are looking into insurance.
We were fortunate to get to drive across this bridge several times before it was closed for safety reasons. It is a beautiful bridge and we really hope it can be saved.
