Along 66, June 2019: Big Green Guy and "Chuggin' On Down 66" Song
JUNE 8-- The restoration of the Gemini Giant muffler man at the Launching Pad Restaurant in Wilmington, Illinois, has been completed. Way to go BGG (Big Green Guy).
JUNE 9-- "Chuggin' On Down 66" by Smiley Burnette was a song from 1954. Near the end of the song he went through a list of Route 66 name-checks: Chicago, St. Louis, Springfield, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Amarillo, Tucumcari, Albuquerque, Winslow, Flagstaff, Barstow and Los Angeles.
It was the "B" side of "Mucho Gusto." It clocks in at 2:25 and is on a 78 rpm.
he is best known for his role as the the Hooterville Cannonball engineer Charlie Pratt on TV's "Petticoat Junction."
