I went to the website of the Chicago Blues Festival and saw that one of their stages is called the Route 66 Road House and Friday a band called Spirit of Route 66 plays between 2:30 and 3:30.
Other major acts playing, and they're all FREE (imagine that in Chicago, where it seems everyone goes out of their way to get as much money as possible out of your pocket):
Thursday- Artie "Blues Boy" White, Larry McCray
Friday- Eddie Bo, Elvin Bishop
Saturday- Ronnie Baker Brooks, Siegal-Schwall Blues Band
Sunday- Bobby Blue Bland, Dorothy Moore
I'm thinking of taking a Metra train downtown. It only costs $5 roundtrip on weekend days. Another good deal.
PHELPS COUNTY, MISSOURI- Not only did they have the Route 66 Summerfest in Rolla this past weekend, but also they celebrated Phelps County's 150th birthday as well. They had a sesquicentennial ceremony and a tribute to county servicemen. They mentioned that Phelps County is also the population center of the US. I didn't know that.
Keep on Down that Two Lane Highway. --RoadDog
