The 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth will be in 2009 and those states in which he lived: Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois, are already putting together plans for it and making preparations. All already have websites devoted to activities.
The June 4th Inside Indiana Business website noted that Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels will dedicate several new roadsigns (or History on Sticks) in Spencer County at the southwest corner of I-64 and US-231 this week. Should it rain, and we've been getting plenty of that here in the Midwest this past several days, it will be held nearby at the Nancy Hanks Tourist Information Center on the west bound lanes of I-64.
Spencer County evidently has quite a Lincoln connection with the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, Lincoln State Park, Lincoln Pioneer Village, Lincoln Ferry Park, and Buffalo Run.
ON AN UNRELATED LINCOLN NOTE- I have an Americana Day-by-Day Calendar and today's is of what is noted as the Declaration of Independence at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. It read, "Four score and seven years ago..." Opps!
Happy Birthday Abe. --RoadDog
