Oklahoma issues guidelines for entities to paint Route 66 shields on the pavement. ODoT is doing this for the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Mother Road.
These can be painted by cities or counties, but have to be in areas with speed limits of 35 mph or less.
You can never have too much signage.
